Eyeliner Techniques for Striking Eyes

Eyeliner Techniques for Striking Eyes

Eyeliner stacking is a new trend that has hit the makeup industry. This technique is a lifesaver for those who neither have the time or the patience to glam up in a minimalistic way, yet want to look gorgeous. You will look striking and pretty and it does not require special tools or extra time to follow this stacked eyeliner technique.

Skin tone
To begin with, use an eyeshadow base of your choice of brand, in skin tone, to prime the eye area. The color of your lid must be neutral as small capillaries or visible discoloration would be an ugly distraction. You could use just your fingers to pat it all over your lid. With the help of eye pencil in matte black or any creamy gel-like formula, create a simple winged eye. Liquid liners would be just as good too.

Kohl
Since you need a sharp precise line for this type of look, eyeliners that smudge easily or tug at the lid like kohl would not be the best option for this technique. If you have a pair of shaky hands, using a pencil would make it fairly easy to draw on.

Color combinations
Be adventurous and use a cobalt blue liquid liner to trace just above the black liner. Hold one hand to steady the other, which is holding the applicator, in case you are nervous. Some other color combinations work the same magic, like, black and white, black and bronze, black and teal, black and silver and navy and gold to name a few. It just depends on the occasion/event.

Correction techniques
While trying out a new technique, mistakes are bound to happen. If a perfectly smooth line cannot be created, you could simply go back and clean it up with an angled eyeliner brush and an oil-free makeup remover. After all, it is not a permanent marker that you drew your eye with. Simply dip the brush into the makeup remover and then carefully sweep it along the edge and smooth it out. Just ensure that you use the very tip of the brush to do this as it will wipe away the shadow or primer if you drag it on its side. If you have no patience for complicated smoky eyes or have shaky hands above, all if you love eyeliners, then go for this simple technique.

Creative expressions
Makeup is all about expressing yourself. Some days call for classic black eyeliner and there are ones that call for something playful. Just let your creative juices flow and have fun with your look. Stack on that colorful cat-eye and wear bright eyeliner. It is usually intuitive to start with a neutral color but a warm base would help a vibrant liner pop. It would be a boon for those with any discoloration in their eyes or who have dark circles. The trick is to use a smudge-proof liner to get that sharp line. Choosing two colors and stacking them would amplify your eyes and add a multi-dimensional, dramatic effect.
